Sautéed Honeycrisp Apples with Ice Cream

Freshly sauteed honeycrisp apples with a dash of cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite simple pleasures—Sautéed Honeycrisp Apples with Ice Cream. This recipe is all about taking our crisp, delicious Honeycrisp apples and turning them into a warm, comforting treat that’ll make your home smell like a cozy autumn afternoon!

Here’s how you can make this delightful sweet dish:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 giant #2 grade Honeycrisp apples (the kind with a few spots—don’t worry, they’re still delicious)

  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar (to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, but highly recommended)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Apples: Start by cutting your Honeycrisp apples into slices. Don’t worry about making them perfect.

  2. Sauté the Apples: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a fry pan over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and bubbly, add your apple slices. Cook them until they’re soft and tender, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add Sweetness: Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Give everything a good stir to make sure the apples are well coated with the sweet aroma goodness. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the apples are beautifully caramelized.

  4. Serve and Enjoy: You can serve these sautéed apples warm, right from the pan. They’re perfect on their own, but for an extra touch of indulgence, serve them over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

These sautéed Honeycrisp apples are reminiscent of those warm, comforting fried apples you might find at Cracker Barrel. They’ll fill your kitchen with an inviting aroma and make for a heartwarming dessert or side dish.

Happy cooking from Connie's Corner!
